Obtaining an Email Account |

If you don't already have an email account, there are many ways to get one
for free.
1) If you already have access to the Internet at home or through your
business, you can get free email by clicking on:
Hotmail and Yahoo Mail can be accessed from anywhere in the world using a
standard web browser.
2) If you already have a computer, but don't have your own Internet access,
you can get dial-up access to the Internet and email through America Online.
Call America Online at 1-800-827-6364 or use a browser to go to www.aol.com. For about $20
per month, they offer unlimited Internet access from nearly anywhere in the US.
3) If you don't already have a computer, here are some basic guidelines on
what you'll need.
We recommend an inexpensive computer from Dell or Gateway. A good
computer for Internet use will cost under $1000. Make sure that your computer
includes:
- A 56K modem for connecting to the Internet.
- Internet Service Provider (ISP) software such as America Online or the Microsoft Network.
4) If you want higher speed access to the Internet:
Check with your local phone company to see if they offer "DSL", or "Digital
Subscriber Line" service. This service costs a bit more, but offers several
advantages over dial-up:
- It's normally 5-10 times faster. It works over your existing phone line, so you don't need a second line.
- It's always on, so there's no need to dial a local Internet access number to connect to the Internet.
